How To Pick The Right Window Style For Your Home Renovation Project

When the windows and doors of your house look outdated, one of the best ways to make them instantly better is by changing their style. This makes it easy to add new windows without having to replace the entire frame on your home or invest in a complete renovation project.

With so many windows and doors styles available in the market, choosing one can be a bit overwhelming. From several windows designers available, people can get confused about what type to pick from that will suit their home renovation project.

Single Hung Windows

The first type of windows design is the single hung windows, which swing in or out like a door. As compared to other styles, this window only has one moving part, making it easy to operate especially if you’d like some fresh air from your windows.

Double Hung Windows

The second type of windows design is the double hung windows, which consists of two windows stacked on top of each other and opens from the bottom to allow more air in. This window style has a lower sash that can be moved up and down, while it can also be raised to open for fresh air. Learn more about what is the difference between single vs double hung windows.

Sliding windows

The third type of windows is sliding windows, which are composed of several parts especially the exterior part which comes in either up and down or left to right sash. Although it can be harder to install, this windows design is very easy to operate and great for ventilation.

Casement windows

Another windows style is the casement window which holds a hinge on one side so you can move the window in and out and open it for fresh air at your convenience. If there’s no available space for windows to swing open, the sliding windows would be an excellent option with their folding design.

Bay Windows

A bay window is built on an angle and has several glass panels supported by wood brackets at angles, either small ones (a quarter round) or large (half-circle). The best use of bay windows is to add extra light, generally at a living or dining area in the house. They provide enough windows in a limited amount of space and take advantage of panoramic views in your backyard.

By picking windows and doors styles that will perfectly fit your home renovation project, you can be sure to maximize the windows’ functionality and design.
